Ronnie Barker OBE

Profile As a youngster, Ronnie Barker acted in the theatre around the country. His London debut was in Mourning Becomes Electra at the Arts Theatre.

Barker also performed on radio. In 1996 he appeared in The Frost Report with David Frost - where he met Ronnie Corbett with whom he was to enjoy a very successful partnership on TV.

The very popular sketch show, The Two Ronnies started in 1971 and had 12 series over the following 17 years.

Barker also acted in several succesful sitcoms - most notably Porridge (1973-77) and Open All Hours.

After leaving TV Ronnie Barker ran an antiques shop in Chipping Norton.

In March 2006 a service of thanksgiving for Ronnie Barker was held at Westmintser Cathedral. Josephine Tewson read the lesson. Michael Grade and Richard Briers also read; and Peter Kay and Ronnie Corbett paid tributes.
